Family Planning Funding

Each year, more than four million low income women in the U.S. receive family planning services from clinics that are funded from federal Title X programs. Title X programs are vital because they fill an unmet need for women who have inadequate or no health insurance at all. Services offered at Title X funded health centers include family planning services, family planning counseling, pelvic and breast exams, screening for anemia, diabetes, and high blood pressure, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, safer sex counseling; basic infertility screening; and referrals to specialized health care.

Planned Parenthood of Northern New England provided health care to 52,000 women, men and teens last year alone–many of whom relied on Title X for vital reproductive health care services. The demand for such services increases yearly, yet Title X funding remains far below what is necessary to meet demand. We need elected officials who will help increase funding for the Title X family planning program in northern New England and across the U.S.
