Women are Watching launch party with Cecile Richards and U.S Senator Jeanne Shaheen

The 2012 Women are Watching Campaign officially began January 5 in Manchester New Hampshire with our inaugural event. President/CEO of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards, and our honored guest, US Senator Jeanne Shaheen, helped kick off the campaign and discussed this year’s unprecendented number of attacks on women’s access to reproductive health services. Hundreds of supporters gathered to listen, make posters, record their own narratives, and sign up to volunteer with Planned Parenthood.

PPNNE and our supporters are paying especially close attention to New Hampshire politics after going through a defund battle with the state’s executive council this past summer when the council decided to reject a routine contract renewal between the state and our organization. These ideologically based policy decisions affect us all in the most intimate way through inhibiting our access to healthcare and services. Its crucial that we maintain vigilance during this campaign cycle and keep the pressure on these politicians by watching.
